Ahha moment about Leah Jo's Gems
Today my friend pointed out that perhaps this love of all things sparkle has been in me for a very long time. She pointed out the way I get excited telling about my childhood love of sparkle and that maybe I am realizing a long tamped down dream.
You know what? She is right. When I think about going to Rock Home Gardens as a child and what I remember the most about the gardens is the rock tumbler barn. I can remember watching the stones turn into shiny gems and feeling the gemstones in my hand. They were so smooth, shiny and warm. I remember taking my children there when they were little and the rock barn still affected me the same way. Now that I think about it: I have always spent time looking at the jewelry section in catalogs growing up. My favorite "Cinderella" book had great jewels adorning Cinderella when she was dressed for the ball. I have always enjoyed the jewelry my Aunt Nor Nor wore. They were so colorful and sparkly. It was a dream come true to go through her jewelry and pick out special pieces for my self when she had us all together one day.

The only other thing I have felt this way about is Dental Hygiene. I have been practicing Hygiene since 1979 and am still passionate about this field of work. Leah Jo's Gems is the first thing to affect me the same if not surpass it. I find myself thinking of new ways to use my gems. Jewelry design, prayer beads, car charms etc. I even envision a small little shop someday where people can come to look, buy, visit and even make their own jewelry. I would have coffee and tea available to drink when I chat with my visitors. I even can see a cat or two laying around the shop. I could go here to create and be inspired by others. I could even sell other designer's work on commission. Wow. I have not shared this with anyone before today. Does anyone else have a dream shop? I would like to hear about it.

Just getting started
This is the very first time I have ever posted a blog. Please grant me a wide margin of understanding as I learn all the ins and outs. I am an emptynester who is indulging in a love for all things having to do with gemstones, pearls, crystals, and beads of all kinds. I was one of those kids digging to the bottom of the barrel of stones and marbles in the souvenir shops. I just love the way they feel in my hands and shine when the light hits them. My good friend Eileen started teaching me the basics of jewelry making and I am loving every minuet of it. Highlight of my first trip abroad was digging through the bead stall in Prague. I will write about that another time. Leah Jo's Gems is my new home business that I am starting up this year. I hope you will continue to check my blog for updates and stories of how I am enjoying my new venture. I will also enjoy any suggestions and commits that help me grow as a beader. Does any one else love beads, gemstones etc. like I do?
